Michigan winters can be brutal, but for Megan, a born and raised Michigander, they’re just a part of life. However, for her fiancé Russell, who hails from sunny Southern California, adjusting to the frigid temperatures can be a challenge. As a wedding photographer, I had the pleasure of capturing Megan and Russell’s Downtown Detroit Winter Engagement, and it was a joy to witness their love and laughter on this chilly day.

We decided to use the iconic Cadillac Lounge, which was decked out with its Christmas Market, as the perfect location for their engagement session. Megan loves everything about Christmas, and the festive decor made the perfect backdrop for their photos. From the moment they arrived, Megan and Russell’s love for each other was evident. They laughed and joked as we walked through the market, stopping to take photos in front of the twinkling lights and Christmas trees.

As we strolled through the market, we chatted about their upcoming wedding day, which will take place in August next year at The Inn at St. John’s in Plymouth, Michigan. Megan shared her excitement for the big day, and Russell joked about hoping for a heatwave to get him through the summer wedding. They both were eager to celebrate with their friends and family, and I know that their wedding day would be just as joy-filled as their engagement session.

Despite the cold temperatures, Megan and Russell’s love kept them warm throughout the day. They snuggled up close to each other, and I captured intimate shots of them holding hands and gazing into each other’s eyes. Megan’s smile lit up the room, and Russell’s love for her was evident in the way he looked at her.

As their wedding photographer, I was thrilled to work with a couple that was so in love and comfortable in each other’s presence. Megan and Russell’s joy was contagious, and their engagement session was a true reflection of their personalities and their love story.
