Saugatuck Dunes State Park Engagement | Sara & Spencer

Saugatuck Dunes State Park Engagement

Sara is the kind of woman to get things done while making sure everyone around her is taken care of while Spencer is the kind of guy who will make sure Sara is taken care of. A match made in heaven! I was excited when we planned their Saugatuck Dunes State Park Engagement!

Sara understands photography as she has dabbled in it herself and when it was of the utmost compliment when she told me that she loved my photography style! Sara had a vision of wanting to have photos in a woodsy area and on a beach. Whenever someone says that I instantly direct them to Saugatuck Dunes State Park because any walk you have through the woods allows you to get those beautiful trees and greenery on the way to Lake Michigan. The beach of course is unique as our state allows you to literally walk along the dunes and then head right to the crisp, blue waters of the big lake.

We started off by walking right next to The Felt Mansion which is not a place I typically go because if they have an event, the area is blocked off from the public but I was happy we were able to explore this new area!

Throughout the walk, we stopped at perfect times when the sun was peeking through the green leaves and I was able to showcase the laughter and comfort Sara & Spencer feel around one another. I learned more about their wedding day and that Sara was excited to have hired Sweetwater South, the branch of Sweetwater Floral that focuses on the lower part of the state for florals! Truly, Sweetwater Floral is one of the top designers in the entire state so this is a BIG deal!

Then I learned of other aspects of their big day like how important all of their nieces and nephews are to them so we’ll need to make sure we get a lot of photos of them on their big day next October at Ravines Golf Club in Saugatuck!

We then got to the beach and realized that it was perfectly uncrowded as it was right after Labor Day! We had more fun playing in the sand and getting some portraits on the dunes, in the lake, and allowing the wind to really make their photos fun and beautiful!

I can’t wait to photograph their big day!!! Check back here to see when I share their wedding blog next October!
