Saugatuck, Michigan Engagement
What’s the best way to start your engagement session? While it might be different for everyone, I love when we begin at an ice cream parlor, specifically Kilwin’s at any of their locations on Lake Michigan. That’s exactly how Emma & Andrew’s Saugatuck Michigan Engagement began and it definitely set the mood of happiness for their photos!
If there was ever a couple I could talk to for literally hours and not even realize how much time has passed, it’s these two. From the very get-go, it’s been so much fun getting to know them and learn more about their Charlevoix Yacht Club wedding day which I’m already head over heels enthused about sharing next June. They have a playful serious kind of love. As in, when it’s time to get on the same page, it’s all business and yet, at any second, you could break out in laughter as they tease one another in-between smooches and twirls from my posing prompts. The only thing we’ve got to figure how is how to best pop a champagne bottle which I’m sure they’ll have nailed down by their wedding day!
During their engagement session in early October, we enjoyed a warm Michigan day with boats still in the harbor and the quiet of an off-season downtown Saugatuck. I’ll always say it for everyone, off-season can be the best season! It’s a true blessing in disguise that can be so great for a relaxed engagement session.
I also love when a couple can bring in the same ‘look’ as their wedding day. As in, do you want your engagement photos to have a similar look to what the area around your wedding venue will have? That’s the reason why we chose the harbor area in downtown Saugatuck. It will be a great match should they choose to display any of these photos at their wedding as décor or as a guest book. It’s so fun to see and guests really do notice!
