Record Box Loft Wedding | Abby & Ivan

Record Box Loft Wedding

When I meet two people, I can spot a love connection instantly. There aren’t many words to describe it but when you know, you know. When it comes to Abby & Ivan, I KNOW. They are the couple that started out as friends and when they finally started dating, it was like two puzzle pieces came together perfectly. Then you add that in with a generous topping of fantastic family and friends whose support is unwavering and you’ve got one of the best combinations of people to have a wedding day! Welcome to Abby & Ivan’s Record Box Loft wedding day!

I began the day at Unwind Hair Salon in downtown Marshall. The quaint town where Abby had grown up and her family still lives. It was here that I photographed their details like the ring box made by her dad, their wooden vows books from Redberry, his shoes from Stacy Adams, and of course, their rings from the one and only Hodges Jewelers.

I also saw how superb the makeup that Wild Bees Beauty did to enhance each lady’s natural beauty and the updo that Unwind Hair Salon gave Abby that would keep her hair impeccable even in the high winds for portraits later.

It was also when I saw certain things start to become a reality like when Abby’s veil was put in for the first time and she and her beautiful mother began to have tears well up in their eyes. This is where I knew today was going to be something extra special.

As we moved to Battle Creek where Record Box Loft is located in downtown, things really started moving quickly. Abby got into her wedding dress from Beckers Bridal, Ivan arrived with his best man Scott to put on their finishing touches, and Abby’s dad might have been hustling and bustling to begin with, but I suspect it was to keep himself from getting too nervous (or maybe too emotional) too quickly because he would see Abby for the first time in her wedding dress very shortly!

As things got moving and Ivan moved on to the Federal Center when he would wait to see Abby himself, all events for the day needed to pause to witness one of the greatest moments a woman could ever ask for. Abby has the most supportive parents and while her mother and sister would stand off to the side, Abby and her father took a moment all to themselves. He cried, Abby cried, Melissa cried, Katie cried…it was a hot mess for a minute for everyone as they let their emotions out.

They dried their tears and then it was Ivan’s time for a private moment with Abby. The two shared their First Look under the gorgeous columns of the Federal Center where Ivan turned around and quite literally got blown away. He admitted to not having any idea what she would choose as her dress but he was STUNNED! Their private moment lasted as long as they wanted before we went into portraits of just the two of them.

Then, we had their maid of honor, best man, and family join in. After getting all portraits done before the ceremony, it was time to really show off the connection that Abby and Ivan share. Their ceremony included personal, unintentional touches like each of them starting off with the various nicknames they have for one another. Yes, that really was not planned! They made this ceremony their own and before we all knew it, they were kissing and walking down that aisle as husband and wife!!!!

From there, it was cocktail hour, a grand entrance, food, and DANCING!!! I love that these two don’t take life too seriously, look to people like Abby’s parents who are celebrating 29 years of marriage for guidance on a successful life together, and will get down on that dance floor to any song!

I hope you all enjoy scrolling through this blog almost as much as I enjoyed photographing their big day!

Congratulations Abby & Ivan!
