Grosse Ile Country Club Wedding with Catholic Ceremony

I’ve photographed weddings at beaches, in churches, hotels, courthouses, backyards and barns, and even other states, but an island golf course wedding just south of Detroit where we all have to enter on one bridge is a new one! Sarah & Andrew’s Grosse Ile Country Club wedding day did not disappoint!

As we started off the day at the salon, photographing their wedding details, Sarah gave us lots of extra-special details like handkerchiefs from great grandparents, a penny with this year on it as their something new, and of course, Andrew’s wedding ring was even engaged!

It was from there that Andrew “Iced” his groomsmen and Sarah got ready with her girls before their beautiful ceremony at St Joseph Catholic Church. Andrew admitted to being nervous but I’ve never seen a groom smile bigger than he did when seeing his bride walking down the aisle with her father.

After their ceremony, it was time to party! No Grosse Ile wedding would be complete without a trip to the lighthouse with a view of Lake Huron and the Canadian coastline as we got extra lucky with this picture-perfect location that you’ll see as you keep scrolling! (Thank you Sarah for having this awesome connection!). Their wedding party was poised for action the entire time, which made my life easy and the images fab too!

We even got to have Ellie make a special appearance as we traveled from the lighthouse to Grosse Ile Country Club for the reception! She might have gotten a few extra treats but it was all worth it to have photos with Sarah & Andrew on their big day!

As we moved into their gorgeous reception space, there was a vibe that everyone wanted to party, get dancing, and just BE TOGETHER! If ever there was a wedding that felt like the effects of Covid keeping people apart, it was this one. The amount of joy and laughter heard throughout the room was beautiful to hear after so much frustration, confusion, and changes of plans.
