Charlevoix Yacht Club Wedding

Think of that small town by the lake, maybe a little vacation home where you’re by the dock and the waves are just kissing the boats every so often. It feels peaceful and yet filled with potential. Now think about adding in your all-time favorite people, a celebration of love, laughter, and togetherness. Can you see it? Great, because today I get to welcome to Emma & Andrew’s Charlevoix Yacht Club Wedding day!!!!!

We began the day in my favorite way, carefully placing Emma’s ball gown dress from Becker’s Bridal at the Charlevoix Yacht Club to get the most unique photo I could! We then photographed all of her and Andrew’s smaller details like their custom ring box from The Mrs Box and Emma’s shoes from Bella Belle which I’m obsessed with!

It was in that calm that Riki, my second shooter extraordinaire, and I figured out the best way to divide and conquer their getting ready portraits, how we would set up Emma’s first look with her dad, Emma & Andrew’s First touch, and general chit chat over the beautiful weather! We were so excited and couldn’t wait to see what we and Unnamed Films captured for the day! We also discussed how happy we were that Andrew decided to let Sarah Dimet Beauty hide that black eye of his! They truly did amazing at everything with hair and makeup but especially with that for my editing purposes, I commend you wonderful humans and your talent!

After a whirlwind of getting ready, champagne toasting, gift opening, and all the details being put in place it was time to head to their ceremony where Emma and her dad shared an emotional first look, Andrew gifted Emma the sweetest handkerchief that she would need all day to get wipe up the tears of joy, and a Father Matthew who wore the coolest shoes I’ve ever seen!

From FINALLY being able to see one another to being nearly inseparable for the rest of the day, they signed their marriage license and we headed to my favorite type of photo location- the beach!!!!!

It was quaint, not crowded, typical in the Northern Michigan way of being slightly difficult to get to, and absolutely PERFECT! We took their Wedding Party Portraits there and have I mentioned I loved the colors-especially of Emma’s bridesmaid and attendees?!?! A little mismatched brilliance! And in true Emma fashion, you’ll even see her dip her toes into that lake, and wouldn’t you know she still looks stunning as she carried that ball gown! And can we please all laugh at Emily’s expression because I felt that too when I looked over!🤣

From the beach, we moved back to the yacht club so Emma and Andrew could read their special letters to one another in privacy with the boats and docks as their background, pop a bottle of champagne, and get weird with me under Emma’s Cathedral length veil (in the best way, I promise!)!!!! I may or may not have also gotten emotional all over again as they read those personal letters to each other and truly felt that in that little area overlooking the docks, I thought back to how much more peaceful it was to have them read those letters there.

As with any peaceful moment on vacation though comes the chaos and the joy of togetherness so we took several more family portraits and friend group photos before a Grand Entrance that brought down the house!!!

It was after that amazing Grand Entrance that speeches were given and we learned about the Emma Jig (fun fact, she does still tap her toes when excited!) and how Andrew first tried to impress Emma through his cooking skills although his attempt went awry. We even learned about a motorcycling escapade and a boating hijacking thanks to Andrew’s Best Man, Phil. You never know what you’ll learn in those speeches!!

From speeches to dinner to Golden Hour portraits of the newlyweds to dancing, it again was a whirlwind of excitement, and dancing and merriment as the celebration continued! I won’t bore you with more of my writing because I know you’re excited to see it all!

So to Emma & Andrew, congrats again you two!!!!
